After two weeks of violence between Israel and Hamas, more than 800 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air and ground
strikes. Seventy-five percent were civilians and 192 were children,
according to UNICEF. Several thousand have been wounded and more than
100,000 displaced. Thirty-two Israeli soldiers have died, as well as
three civilians.
Those numbers don't convey the horror of what's happening right now in Gaza. Neither do most of the photographs you'll find in news media. Streets and buildings have been blasted to rubble, yes. People are broken and mourning. Those things must be documented. But too often, we hide from the most graphic scenes of violence and death.
